Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer role
Reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineer you will:
* Produce conceptual designs, supported by relevant calculations and analysis.
* Manage individual design and mechanical engineering projects from initial design to final commissioning.
* Create detailed manufacturing drawings.
* Liaise with other engineers and the wider team, workshop colleagues and client representatives throughout the project lifecycle.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or a minimum of HNC level.
* Demonstrable experience in a mechanical and manufacturing environment.
* Several years of design experience in a diverse client/sector base.
* Ability to work on individual projects from initial design to final commissioning.
* Experience with 3D CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
* Working knowledge of MathCAD.
* Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
