About The Role
Job Overview
The HR Advisor is a key member of the People Team and will be responsible for providing professional support to the Group HR Manager and thereby the Regional Directors and their teams on a wide range of key activities.
You will work as part of a proactive, innovative and responsive People Team and will act as the first line contact for HR queries, providing consistent advice aligned to policy and procedure and progressing activity as appropriate which may include, if the activity is complex, triaging to the appropriate member of the HR Team to support and resolve.
This role is line managed by the Group HR Manager and line manages an HR Assistant giving advice and mentorship.
Job Responsibilities:
· Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees for HR Operational questions and concerns; providing advice and guidance on how to handle/ resolve situations and escalating more complex issues to the Group HR Manager
· Provide an efficient, effective and customer focused HR service ensuring compliance with our Policies and Procedures and relevant employment legislation.
· Review policies/procedures and guidelines regularly suggesting improvements where appropriate informed by HR questions regularly received.
· Identify regular queries and translate these into templated responses that provide a script and answers to the most common HR queries to ensure consistency of advice.
· Build effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR Policies/Procedures and HR related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice.
· Support the Group HR Manager, ensuring routine tasks, queries and activities are completed to a high standard.
· Support the Director of HR and resourcing and Group HR Manager with tasks for strategic initiatives, projects and continued development of policies and procedures.
· Monitor sickness absence across the region and liaise with Line Managers and Regional Directors to ensure that all cases are handled in line with policy and procedure – triaging cases to the Group HR Manager if appropriate.
· Escalating any issues with non-compliance to policies and procedures to the appropriate Regional Director and Group HR Manager.
· Keep ESPHR up to date with working cases and set actions for managers as and when required.
· Provide accurate reports on HR activity for Regional Directors and the Group HR Manager
· Produce HR Reports for HR Manager’s when requested.
· Lead or assist in business cases of restructuring or change.
· Line Manage the HR Assistant to ensure their training levels are compliant. Deliver upskilling and coaching as required.
· Work alongside the Group HR Manager and Director of HR and Resourcing to support preparing documentation for a wide range of HR matters.
· Attend meetings as and when required i.e. People Team Meeting, Regional Meetings
· Support Line Manager where required with any i-Trent queries and work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and teams to ensure any issues within the system are resolved efficiently and effectively.
· Monitoring the HR email inbox and responding to any queries in a timely manner
· Undertake projects as directed by the Chief people Officer or Director of HR and Resourcing to support with the wider People Team and Organization
· Line Manage and Mentor the HR Assistant ensuring their tasks are completed to a good standard and on time.
· Have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
· Maintain Confidentiality of any HR casework and projects.
