An opportunity is available for a Street Works Assistant working in our Castle Donington depot.Reporting to the Street Works Team Leader you will carry out the street works administration for National Grid’s operational teams. Showcasing your knowledge of street works legislation and excellent communication skills you’ll be able to advise and explain street works processes to our internal and external stakeholders. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Our vision is to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future and we are doing this in a fast-moving industry with an increasing focus on tackling climate change, exploring new energy sources that are renewable, low carbon, and improve efficiency to meet demand.Main ResponsibilitiesIssuing compliant street works permits & notices and associated notifications in the relevant system on behalf of the operational teamsBeing a point of contact for National Grid’s operational teams, to provide guidance and support on street works mattersLiaising with Highway Authorities regarding any aspect of National Grid’s Street works activitiesLiaising with National Grid’s contractors regarding street works activities and performanceDealing with non-compliances issued by Highway Authorities, including inspections, fixed penalty notices and overrun chargesRaising and paying invoicesUpdating systems to ensure all data is recorded accuratelyProviding any other information as may relate to street works, as requested.Attending internal or external meetings virtually or in person to represent the National Grid Streetworks teamAssisting with any internal training as requiredAnswering general street works calls.Assist with other tasks within the team.Support the success of the business by contributing to team meetings.Be prepared to travel to internal and external venues to meet with stakeholders as required.The Ideal CandidateExcellent organisational, communication and customer service skillsKnowledge of Street works legislation and systems, specifically the use of Street Manager.Strong interpersonal, literacy and numeracy skills.The ability to prioritise a busy workloadGood general knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.Excellent attention to detail.The ability to plan ahead with a proactive "can do" attitude..Be ambitious and strive to be even betterNational Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.
