Chartwells are looking for a Nutritionist to join our award-winning team. The role will be covering 165 primary and secondary schools in Durham, requiring regular travel between sites. The successful candidate should be a confident user of public transport and road networks. The Medical Diet Nutritionist will be responsible for writing allergen free menus, delivering training, auditing schools and occasionally delivering classroom workshops on allergens to pupils and students. The candidate will engage with key stakeholders including Head Teachers, parents, Catering Teams and Contract Managers. They should be an expert in food allergies, intolerances, and have knowledge of legislation around food and nutrition including the Food Information Regulations and School Food Standards. Key Responsibilities Writing medical diet menus for different allergies, intolerances, and medical conditions Regular communication with parents, schools, catering teams and medical professionals Auditing sites Training catering teams Reporting incidents & working with HSE to investigate Attending sites on a weekly basis Ensuing FIR regulations are met by providing up to date allergy information in the form of allergy reports Manage sensitive pupil allergy information in an organised and auditable manner Regularly attending parent and client meetings regarding medical diet provision Maintaining medical diet information throughout our in-house menu management systems Contributing to ingredient, recipe, and menu development Working closely with catering managers and area managers to promote a joined-up approach to safely providing medical diet meals Delivering food and wellbeing education sessions to a wide variety of audiences in person and through posters, blogs and website posts Working closely with in-contract team to provide information required and working in collaboration to meet KPIs of contract Supporting wider business projects when required. Person Specification Must have an accredited degree (BSc) in Nutrition or other relevant degree Excellent IT and presentation skills and ability to learn new systems quickly Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication to a range of stakeholders including clients, parents, and pupils Excellent organisation skills with ability to manage a busy inbox and a high volume of workload Confident in communicating to large groups of people and controlling challenging meetings/conversations Ability to work under pressure and met deadlines Ability to work independently and as part of a team Keen passion for food and wellbeing is essential Excellent attention to detail Confident public speaker Demonstrates can do attitude Passion for keeping up to date with latest nutrition research and legislation Must be willing to travel and stay away from home occasionally Ability to travel across Durham via car or public transport with occasional additional travel Desirable Work experience in the foodservice and nutrition industry would be welcomed. Experience using nutritional analysis system such as Saffron (or equivalent).
