Astute’s Renewbles Team is partnering with a key business and influential player in the biogas sector. Together we are looking to recruit a SHEQ Manager to cover a small portfolio of assets and we’re looking for a safety conscious and collaborative people-person to join the team with the ultimate goal of driving a positive SHEQ ethos across the company.

The SHEQ Manager role comes with a salary up to �66,000, car allowance and excellent company benefits to be discussed.

Responsibilities and duties of the SHEQ Manager role

Reporting to the Head of SHEQ you will:

* Lead health, safety, environmental and quality processes and management systems across a portfolio of anaerobic digestion assets.
* Carry out weekly and monthly inspections across a portfolio of sites in County Durham/Middlesborough.
* Manage the PAS110 certification.
* Provide specific and relevant SHEQ advice to operational staff on site.
* Develop a SHEQ centric culture and ethos, ensuring that operational staff see SHEQ as an important part of their role.
* Look for continuous improvement opportunities across the site, looking to implement these where possible.
* Closely monitor all SHEQ legislation and regulation, ensuring that you update all relevant personnel when required.
* Implement and maintain ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO 45001.
* Help to standardise HSEQ practices across the company.
* Attend and host SHEQ meetings, both internally and externally.
* Plan and undertake monitoring and auditing of sites, operations, and procedures in support of regulatory compliance.
* Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

* A higher education / qualification in Health and Safety, a minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate
* An appropriate membership is desired, ie IEMA, IOSH etc
* At least 5 years’ experience in the role
* Experience in the anaerobic digestion or energy from waste sector, or similar heavy process environment.
* An auditing qualification or a minimum of 3 years’ auditing experience in at least one of the following standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001.

Personal skills

The SHEQ Manager role would suit someone who is:

* Proven SHEQ experience within a transferable heavy processing environment, such as biogas, water treatment, process plant, or similar.
* Comprehensive knowledge of environmental and safety legislations
* Experience in communicating with Environment Agency and other regulatory bodies.
* Flexible to travel across 2 plants.

* Salary between �55,000 - �66,000 (DOE).
