As a healthcare assistant you will support the students within the school in all aspects of health and personal care where trained to do so, under the guidance of our experienced nursing and clinical team.
About The Role
Salary: £12.21 Per Hour
Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only.
Job Responsibilities
- Support with any pupil that requires 2:1 assistance alongside their 1:1 staff member with all personal hygiene tasks including toileting, dressing and feeding.
- Assist with mobility support, including helping students with walking, transferring, or using mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers)
- Administering basic prescribed medications where trained and appropriate to do so.
- Assisting therapists while they are delivering therapeutic support under guidance and supervision.
- Administering basic first aid
- Assist students in their daily routines, encouraging independence where appropriate
- Support pupils in co-regulating when required
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture by advocating for the rights and needs of students requiring personal care.
- Keep accurate, confidential records of student care, noting any changes in health or behaviour
- Report and record any safeguarding concerns in the appropriate manner
- Work closely with the wider school team to provide a coordinated care approach for students requiring personal care.
- Attend meetings as needed to discuss student progress, specific health needs and any necessary changes to health plans.
- Support other roles if required for the health and well-being of pupils.
Knowledge Skills and Competency
- Good basic education in literacy and numeracy- GCSE Maths and English grade A-C or equivalent.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Person-centred care, focusing on the needs and wellbeing of the learner at all times.
- Effective use of ICT to record and report.
- Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
