In this role, you will lead a group of operatives responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Defence Training Estate. Your team will handle a range of essential tasks, including preparing military ranges and training areas, carrying out grounds maintenance, patrolling designated areas, and reporting any incidents or security concerns.We are looking for an individual with experience working on the Defence Training Estate or leading a high-performing team in a rural or operational environment. Please note some emails may arrive in your junk mail folderMain ResponsibilitiesLine manage and support Training Area Operatives, ensuring the effective patrolling of areas and prompt reporting of any incidents.Lead and oversee daily operations, serving as the primary point of contact for task allocation and performance management.Actively participate in hands-on tasks—approximately 80% of your time will be spent working alongside your team.Drive and operate fleet vehicles as required for site operationsManage and operate warning systems, including training control offices, flags, and lightsPerform preventative, planned, and reactive maintenance to ensure the training estate remains safe and operational.Operate and maintain plant and equipmentEnsure full compliance with safety regulations and operational protocolsMaintain accurate records and complete documentation using both IT and paper-based systemsUndertake additional duties as required to support the success of the teamThe Ideal CandidateKnowledge of patrol procedures and incident reportingExperience in estate services and maintenance or similar industry Competency in grounds maintenance and plant machinery operationA solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levelsBasic IT proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and database managementAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentA proactive attitude toward learning and personal developmentWillingness to undertake further training as requiredA valid UK manual driving licence is essential for this role Why Join Us?At Landmarc, we pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative, people-first culture.
