We are looking for an Internal Communications & Channels Manager to join our friendly team working on a hybrid basis out of our Solihull office. This initially a contract role (6-9 months) for an experienced individual.This amazing opportunity offers you a varied, complex and rewarding role working alongside senior leaders to inform, inspire and involve colleagues in the success of their team, business and Tarmac as a whole.We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesWe’re looking forInternal Communications & Channels Managerto work with us on a fixed term basis until the end of 2025 to help us review, refocus and revamp our channels to improve how we reach our colleagues. Our internal communication and channels manager looks after our suite of channels including The Circle intranet, One magazine, regular announcements and content to support campaigns.Your first task will be to audit and make improvements to channels based on recent colleague feedback and your own research, including exploring how we can better use digital technology to engage our people.You'll make sure we put the spotlight on the things that will make people feel proud to be part of Tarmac. You will take the role of planning news stories for our intranet, scheduling the stories, loading them into the easy-to-use platform, and publishing them. You’ll also be the one sending out announcements that you or the team have written. You’ll take the editor role for our online employee news platform, including managing an external agency.You’ll also have the opportunity to take a lead on internal communication campaigns/projects andsupport our IC business partners in delivering their priorities.Audit our existing channels, using internal and external research to update our approach, making recommendations and updating our channels mix in response.Create a two-way internal communication strategy that supports Tarmac’s strategic objectives - with a particular focus on the engagement of frontline operatives.Manage, measure and evolve an effective suite of internal communication channels.Write and edit engaging copy for all internal communication channels.Work with a network of contacts across Tarmac to ensure content represents all parts of the business.Channel management and delivery:Lead the production of online, face to face and print channels (currently intranet, emails/Poppulo, online employee news platform) which inform, inspire and involve all employee audiences across the UK.Manage our intranet, scheduling news stories in the editorial calendar, copy-writing articles, and uploading content onto our content management system for publication. Create and own pages to support campaigns and key topics. Work with page owners around Tarmac to provide training and expert guidance on page content, layout etc.Monitor the internal comms inbox, dealing with queries or passing them on to the relevant contact within the IC team or across Tarmac.Act as editor of our online employee news platform, managing its schedule and content and overseeing the relationship with an external agency.Advisor to managers across Tarmac on effective employee communications and engagement methods to meet their objectives.Channel evaluation and developmentUse evidence and insight to identify improvements to our internal communication channels.Strategic CommunicationsBuild strong and positive working relationships with teams across Tarmac and provide them with internal communications advice and support in order to increase the effectiveness of internal communications for the whole organisation.The Ideal CandidateTo be successful as Internal Communications & Channels Manager,you will be a creative communicator and a strong administrator, super-organised to manage our schedules, with excellent written English and attention to detail. You’ll share our passion for making sure the right information reaches the right people in the right way for them.Experience of reviewing internal communication channels and quickly making improvements.You may have worked as a consultant brought in specifically to audit and improve an organisation’s internal comms approach, setting up and delivering resulting changes.Professional experience (3-5 years), ideally including demonstrable experience in internal communication and employee engagement.Recent experience of reviewing and improving internal communication channels to reach frontline/operational audience via technology/digital methods.Agency management and measurementOn- and offline communication channel managementExperience in writing for on- and offline channels and managing electronic communicationsExperience of content management systemsExperience of working within a busy communications or marketing functionBeneficial: experience of using social media to increase employee engagementYou must be immediately available or on a short notice period.
