Astute’s Power team are working with a new entrant to the UK market who are a people driven Green Energy company. Across the UK they have acquired a fleet of Waste to Energy & Biomass plants, including the South Clyde Energy Centre currently under construction in Glasgow. Gren operate across Northern Europe, focusing on power generation, district heating (and cooling) and industrial energy services. Gren aim to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency and support the shift towards cleaner, more reliable energy systems.
As part of their �1b investment into the UK market, they are looking to appoint an Engineering & Outage focused Operations Manager to deliver operational excellence for their existing portfolio & new acquisitions. You will help drive the technical & commercial performance of the fleets, focusing on maximising financial return whilst ensuring the plants are operate in a safe & efficient manner, in line with their contractual obligations.
We are looking for someone with a background in Power Generation who has a strong commercial understanding of O&M agreements with a bias towards delivering outages, driving engineering standards and is a dynamic communicator.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Head of Operations, as Operations Manager you will be responsible for:
* Overseeing the operational portfolio, focusing on HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment), and ensuring strong operational and financial performance
* Implementing the O&M (Operations and Maintenance) strategy, with a continuous focus on enhancing standards and driving long-term improvements.
* Maximise portfolio value by identifying opportunities for innovation and optimizing EBITDA.
* Manage key projects, including plant outages, upgrades, and overhauls, while overseeing contractor relationships, procurement processes, and project delivery.
* Oversee each asset’s P&L, gaining a clear understanding of revenue streams and developing robust business cases to secure investment.
* Identify and mitigate risks across the portfolio to safeguard operational and financial stability.
* Foster a positive workplace culture by supporting Health & Safety, Environmental, ESG, and OFGEM-related initiatives.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Ideally qualified with a degree in a relevant Engineering field
* Understanding of industry Health & Safety – IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous
* AMPM or Prince 2 qualification would be advantageous
* Understanding of CDM regulations
Personal skills
The Operations Manager would suit someone who has:
* A minimum of ten years' experience in Power Generation, including at least five years in a supervisory or management role. This could include Waste to Energy, Biomass, CHP, Thermal Generation etc.
* Strong commercial understanding of Operations & Maintenance contracts.
* Hands-on experience with CAPEX, budgeting, and P&L management.
* A proven track record in overseeing plant outages and upgrade projects.
* An energetic and dynamic team player who inspires and supports others to achieve their best.
* Entrepreneurial and innovative in problem-solving, with the confidence to design and implement new processes independently.
