An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Connections Strategy Reform Manager within the Connections team.The Connections Reform Manager is responsible for supporting connections reform on behalf of National Grid’s distribution business (NGED), enabling the development and delivery of an ambitious future connections strategy. This will enable our customers to connect when and where they wish, and NGED to maximise its market opportunities.Success in the role will see an improvement in the connections pipeline (‘the queue’), and an increase in customer experience performance measures.   It will also grow our sector leadership, influence and reputation, and our colleagues’ experience.  NGED has an ambition to continue to be a leading, influential voice in industry on Connections Reform. The role holder will play an important role in ensuring that NGED is set up to deliver on that ambition, supporting all aspects of shaping policy, designing processes and implementing changes to drive the reform required.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact across NGED, National Grid and the sector. You will be passionate about customer excellence, ambitious to play a key role in the UK’s shift to net zero carbon and skilled in stakeholder management.The location of the role can be agreed with the successful candidate within the Midlands and South West areas. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Our vision is to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future and we are doing this in a fast-moving industry with an increasing focus on tackling climate change, exploring new energy sources that are renewable, low carbon, and improve efficiency to meet demand.Main ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities will include:Supporting the development and implementation of a strategic plan for NGED connection reform and future strategyDeveloping papers or presentations to regulators, policymakers and stakeholders to support NGED’s chosen positionEngaging with external stakeholders including ENA’s connections sub-groups, Ofgem, DESNZIdentifying and prioritising reform and future opportunities for connectionsDelivering insight on reform and the future of connections, including customer insight, market developments, technological advancements, and trends in the energy distribution.The Ideal CandidateThe role holder will have a strong aptitude for detailed work on complex energy regulatory and policy matters, ideally with experience of working with related regulatory bodies in the energy sector.  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven expertise in writing and explaining complex policy topics to a wide variety of non-policy audiences, including experience and comfort with public speaking is required. They will have a proven record of successful collaboration with industry groups, government, regulators and other stakeholders.You will need to be passionate about customer excellence and ambitious to play a key role in the UK’s shift to net zero carbon. They will be committed to reforming the customer connections experience, engaging and enabling colleagues, and influencing stakeholders and the Regulator so we become a market leader.  This requires skills in stakeholder engagement, influencing and networks across different audiences.A full driver’s licence is required.Don’t meet every single requirement?
