What is the job role?Coventry City Council has an opportunity for a Recruitment and Onboarding Officer, to join our People Services team. We are seeking an experienced Recruitment professional who will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of up to administrators. As well as providing recruitment and onboarding support for designated service areas through a transformational period. You will engage with community organisations and partners to optimise our recruitment strategies and boost engagement.Reporting to the Recruitment & Onboarding Lead your role involves defining and driving recruitment improvements whilst ensuring that the team adhere to UK Employment Law and UK Visa sponsorship compliance. You will also ensure the One Coventry Values are reflected at every recruitment stage, promoting strong Diversity and Inclusion practices. This is your chance to significantly impact the work environment by fostering inclusivity and high performance. Key Responsibilities:Manage all aspects of the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process, setting priorities and monitoring and applying standards of performance as defined in all aspects of current policy. Maintain knowledge of current recruitment and onboarding legislation to deliver the appropriate service to the organisation, which is One Coventry Values led and enhances the candidate experience.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure service excellence is provided in an effective, timely manner, enabling managers to be self-sufficient and take ownership of their recruitment needs.Line manage and provide support to the Recruitment and Onboarding Administrators to work autonomously and enhance high performance whilst complying with HR processes such as appraisals, enabling attendance and disciplinary and grievance.Provide a recruitment and onboarding advisory service to the organisation, sharing best practices to enhance manager knowledge and confidence throughout the process.Develop relationships and engage external stakeholders and community groups, promote Coventry City Council at Jobs Fairs, and explore opportunities in working with the Job Shop.Champion the organisational and social benefits of greater diversity in the workforce, incorporating the Council’s commitment to becoming a workforce that is representative of the community it serves.Support the production of monthly and ad hoc recruitment reports. Provide support to colleagues and deputise for the Recruitment and Onboarding Lead when required.  Who are we looking for?In this role, you should possess up-to-date knowledge of recruitment legislation, organisational values, and best practices. You should understand diversity and inclusion strategies and have experience with applicant tracking systems and Microsoft packages to improve recruitment processes. Strong familiarity with people management practices is also essential.You'll require excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, and the ability to deliver training to colleagues. Your skills in innovation and solution-finding will enhance processes. Experience in managing recruitment in large, diverse organisations, alongside stakeholder relationship building, is vital. Expertise in data analysis, process improvement, and people management will contribute to your success.
