There are opportunities to get involved in innovative work in a sector that continues to grow dynamically, with career development supported and enabled by on-going training.Main ResponsibilitiesThe specific main tasks include:-Undertaking front line operational support, from a 1st and 2nd line perspective within the NMC environment.Providing remote configuration of network elements on the Telecoms and SCADA networks.Managing your own working time to ensure that jobs are completed in the most efficient manner.Working with contractors and when necessary witness acceptance tests.Working with colleagues and customers to ensure a continuity of service.Working safely and in accordance with agreed National Grid procedures and techniques.Providing technical support to customers and liaising with colleagues to solve complex issues.The Ideal CandidateYou will ideally have experience of working in a Network Management Centre. You will be required to provide front line operational support within the National Grid Telecoms Network Management Centre, liaising with field-based engineers, customers and contractors.Candidates are required to have experience with configuration and fault finding in Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP Networks, including switches, routers and firewalls. Experience with DWDM, MPLS-TP, Microwave, SDH and PDH would also be an advantage. You should be committed to providing outstanding customer service and have an ability to communicate well with both colleagues and customers. Ideally qualified to BTEC Level 5 or equivalent in Telecommunications, Data Networks or Electrical Engineering or have extensive relevant experience; however applications are also encouraged from candidates that are able to demonstrate that they have a technical background and the motivation to make a success of this opportunity.As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements.
