Are you a dedicated and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician looking for an opportunity to make a real impact on children's healthcare?

We are looking for a passionate individual to join our team in Surrey, supporting the Lead Pharmacist in driving medicines optimisation across Children’s Services.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to enhance medicines safety, governance, and effectiveness. Your responsibilities will include supporting audits and action plans, monitoring prescribing practices, and ensuring that learning from medicine-related incidents is shared across services. You will also contribute to internal service reviews and help identify areas that require additional support.

As a key part of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with statutory medicines optimisation requirements and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to innovation in medicines optimisation, working closely with teams who provide care to children, young people, and families across Surrey.

Our Healthy Family Teams support our Surrey-wide service, and you will be based at one of our Office Hubs across Surrey with the opportunity for hybrid working.

Main Responsibilities
Promote best practices in medicines optimisation within the Business Unit.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, partner organisations, and commissioning bodies.
Contribute to Integrated Care Board (ICB) system initiatives related to medicines optimisation.
Support data analysis, clinical audits, and incident reporting, providing insights and recommendations.
Deliver written and verbal reports on medicines-related activities.
Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Conduct audits, site inspections, and provide feedback to enhance medicines governance.
Support governance of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and Non-Medical Prescribing.
Ensure safe medicine use, handling, and clinical governance integration across services.
Provide medicines-related training and support staff competency in Medicines Management.
Contribute to audit development in controlled drugs, antimicrobials, PGDs, and MAR charts.
Represent the Lead Pharmacist at local medicines management meetings.
Adapt to changing clinical, organisational, and professional demands while prioritising tasks effectively.
Stay updated on legislative, regulatory, and professional standards.
Adhere to GPhC and RPS ethical and professional guidelines.
Maintain professional accountability and commit to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The Ideal CandidateWe’d love to hear from you if:

Essential


Registered Qualified Pharmacy Technician holding an NVQ Level 3 or other relevant qualification.
Knowledge of legislation and good practice in relation to medicines in community services
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clinicians, healthcare professionals and patients
Have a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise own workload to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to motivate self and others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent IT skills
Decision making and prioritisation skills with good attention to detail and accuracy.


Desirable


Previous experience of using ePACT data
Previous experience in community health services or primary care


Other requirements: Access to a car insured for business use, enabling site visits Surrey-wide.
