HCRG Care Group is seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Medical Director to join our leadership team. This pivotal role will involve collaborating with the clinical leadership team to define and deliver our clinical strategy across the BSW Business Unit and the wider Integrated Care Board (ICB). You will be a clinical ambassador for HCRG Care Group, building strong relationships with our commissioners and NHS stakeholders, driving service improvement, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe care.

As a Regional Medical Director, you will play a key role in shaping the future of healthcare provision within the ICB, focusing on the development and integration of services that support a preventative, collaborative, and sustainable model of care.

 Due to exciting organisational growth, as a Regional Medical Director you will help deliver the safe provision of our new and existing Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) services. Commencement of this role will be April 1st 2025.

We are looking for a full GMC registered GP or Specialist registered doctor with a drive to transform health and care to join us in this exciting period. This is a Part Time role for 8 sessions a week. A driving license and access to a car for work purposes is preferable due to travel across our BSW services.

Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Regional Medical Director you will:

Leadership Responsibilities:


Lead strategic clinical initiatives and drive cultural change across the healthcare ecosystem.
Serve as a point of contact for GPs and Acute/Mental Health Medical Practitioners, offering guidance and mentorship.
Oversee clinical governance, ensuring adherence to policies, standards, and specifications while supporting service improvements.
Represent HCRG Care Group at ICB level, fostering strong relationships with senior stakeholders and ensuring high performance in service delivery.
Promote staff health, wellbeing, and professional development, collaborating with MedSu for medical appraisals and revalidation processes.


Clinical Responsibilities:


Collaborate with GPs and Consultants to deliver a prevention-first clinical strategy and integrated care pathways.
Maintain high clinical standards, ensure compliance with professional bodies, and provide peer support across the business unit.
Stay updated on medical advancements and encourage efficient, evidence-based practice within the ICB.

The Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate for this role will have:


Full GMC registration and relevant degree (MBChB or equivalent).
GMC GP or Specialist register with a license to practice.
Participation in yearly appraisals.
Right to work in the UK.
M/FRCGP or equivalent, with MFMLM qualification or in the process of obtaining it.
Passion for driving a preventative-first approach across the ICB and region.
Understanding of clinical governance, quality issues, and health & social policy.
Strong strategic leadership skills with an understanding of NHS operations at an ICB level
Broad medical knowledge, including primary, secondary, tertiary, and community care, with expertise in key care pathways.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to handle stressful situations within a multidisciplinary team.
Previous clinical leadership experience, including system redesign of clinical pathways.
Evidence of additional clinical skills and a drive to transform health and care.
Prior commissioning experience.


A driving license and access to a car is preferable due to travel across our BSW services being a requirement of the role.
