Role Summary

As a Porter Supervisor at Sodexo at Manchester Foundation Trust Hospital, You will be in responsible for leading a team and managing daily porterage operations to improve the quality of people's lives. Ensuring that your team creates a clean and sterile environment for the well-being and safety of patients, staff, and visitors is a critical role in preventing the spread of infection. What you'll do


Allocate work to portering staff and monitor completion through the Hive system.
Ensure all staff are equipped with handheld devices (rovers) and they are returned after shifts.
Manage annual leave requests, conduct appraisals, and oversee staff training, including moving and handling.
Work closely with nursing staff and department heads to prioritize tasks and resolve any issues on shift.
Handle sickness absence calls, conduct return-to-work interviews, and manage HR paperwork.
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety policies, accident reporting, and MFT procedures.
Ensure all portering staff wear uniforms and ID badges.
Liaise with MFT and Sodexo teams to resolve issues and meet ad-hoc requirements
Monitor stock, oversee mail rounds, and ensure post is sent on time according to MFT guidelines.
Provide emergency cover during critical incidents (e.g., cardiac arrest, fire).
Operate ward communication systems and provide portering duties when needed.
Ensure professional conduct and a high standard of hygiene among staff.
Provide guidance to new team members and assist in covering for other supervisors when necessary.
Handle additional tasks as required by the Logistics Manager.
