Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with a global engineering company that specialises in project management and consultancy services within the nuclear sector to recruit a Principle Electrical Engineer in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Principle Electrical Design Engineer role comes with a salary of up to �70,000 and company car. The key responsibility of this role is to lead and manage key design and construction activities for high-risk, high-complexity projects, primarily in a maritime environment.

Responsibilities and duties
As a Principle Electrical Designer you will:
* Attend project meetings, design reviews, and hazard identification workshops.
* Manage stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle.
* Oversee external engineering consultants and contractors.
* Prepare and review technical documentation, including design substantiation reports and safety-related assessments.
* Manage design changes, concessions, and updates to key documents.
* Author and maintain examination, inspection, maintenance, and testing (EIMT) schedules.
* Supervise on-site construction and commissioning activities.
* Provide technical direction to ensure compliance with design intent and safety standards.
* Review contractor work plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
* Support the development of safety cases and periodic safety reviews.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng) or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design standards (British & European Standards).
* Experience in designing, assessing, and specifying high and low voltage systems.
* Familiarity with industrial systems (pumps, generators, HVAC, SCADA, PAVA).
* Proven ability to develop technical justifications for design modifications in high-hazard environments.
* Experience working on multi-discipline projects, ideally in defence or maritime sectors.
