Here at Saga, we are keen to appoint a fully qualified Financial Accountant to join our group finance team on a fixed term contract. You will be key to assisting our central corporate finance function with an array of high-level finance projects plus corporate financial reporting and processing.

Stepping into the role on a fixed term basis you will need to adapt quickly to our bespoke finance systems and demands from all our business units across, cruise, insurance and travel.

Saga is recruiting this role to support the finance team as they enter some exciting and challenging programmes of change, being a new finance system implementation (workday) and a business partnership deal in insurance. We need you to be fully qualified and able to instantly navigate our fast-paced dynamic finance team.

You will report directly to our Group Financial Controller and work closely with the Group Heads of Financial Reporting & Control and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). Your work will be varied, giving you lots of exposure to corporate reporting, FP&A and financial controls.     

We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. When you do come into the office, it’ll be with a real purpose in mind – to meet with your team, to work together, and of course to socialise and celebrate too!  The Finance team currently meet once a week in Ashford, Kent.

Main ResponsibilitiesWorking as our contractor in a Fixed Term role at Saga, you will be responsible for various aspects of accounting systems and processes. You will also be required to support with a number of ongoing projects and our approaching year end work.

The term of this FTC could be required for longer than 6 months. This will be reviewed regularly by the Group FC.

 
The Ideal CandidateYou will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.


ACA/ACCA/CIMA essential, with 3+ years PQE
Group consolidation experience desirable, ideally in a plc environment
Demonstrable track record of meeting deadlines within a reporting cycle essential
Can quickly adapt to complex business models.
Able to take instructions and pick up project work.
Can demonstrate excellent communication skills and would comfortably navigate a large corporate business structure across a mix of industry regulations and ways of reporting.
Be IT literate. An expert on excel and financial reporting systems.


Desirable;


Has previously been involved with new system implementation.
Use of IBM Cognos TM1 and Workday Financial Management advantageous
