About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Head of Contractor Management to oversee and enhance the management of our subcontractor portfolio and contractor relationships. This hybrid role integrates strategic oversight with operational excellence to support the company’s project delivery and commercial objectives.
As the Head of Contractor Management, you will lead efforts to ensure efficient administration of subcontractor agreements, maintain high performance standards, and drive compliance with contractual obligations. This role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients to achieve business goals, mitigate risks, and deliver value.
Key Responsibilities:
Contractor Management:

Lead the administration and management of subcontractor agreements throughout the project lifecycle, from award to closeout.
Monitor contractor performance against agreed terms, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budgetary requirements.
Identify and mitigate risks related to contractor performance, costs, and delivery, maintaining, and owning the subcontracting RAID log.
Collaborate with legal and project teams on contract amendments, claims, and dispute resolution.

Strategic Partnerships:

Build and maintain long-term strategic partnerships with key subcontractors and third-party suppliers.
Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure continuous improvement and address risks or issues proactively.
Develop strategic relationships with central and local government agencies, subcontractors, and other relevant organisations to enhance operational effectiveness.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaborate with internal teams to align contractor management with technical, operational, and commercial needs.
Provide regular updates and strategic advice on contractor matters to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of contractor agreements, amendments, and performance metrics.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports on subcontractor performance and risk management to the leadership team.

Skills and Experience:
Contractor Management Expertise:

Proven experience managing contractor agreements and performance in a commercial environment.
Strong understanding of contractual terms, risk management, and dispute resolution processes.
Ability to manage amendments and communicate changes effectively.

Bid Management Expertise:

Proven experience managing the bid process, from opportunity identification to contract award.
Strong understanding of bid development best practices, including proposal writing and evaluation.
Ability to manage complex bid projects and deliver high-quality submissions within deadlines.

Organisational and Leadership Skills:

Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all contractor-related activities.
Demonstrated ability to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels.

Communication and Collaboration:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Skilled at conflict resolution and driving collaborative solutions.

Qualifications:

Degree in a related field (preferred but not essential).
Professional certifications in contract management, procurement, or bid management (e.g., APMP, CIPS, IACCM) are desirable.
3+ years of experience in contractor or contract management roles, or 5+ years in a related commercial role.
