An exciting opportunity is available for a Performance and Reporting Manager based in Bristol.

Reporting to the Head of Performance, you’ll have a key role in supporting the shaping of National Grid Electricity Distribution’s strategic direction, optimising performance outcomes, and contributing to a culture of excellence and growth.

Utilising your exemplary people management skills you’ll lead a team responsible for the creation, analysis,and dissemination of key performance reports across critical teams such as Field Operations, Asset Management, Connections and Customer Excellence.

This role will be ideal for someone who has a strong background in data analytics, business intelligence, and performance management, as well as an ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives for stakeholders at all levels.

As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working.

Main Responsibilities
Performance Strategy Setting: Set and overseen the implementation of a strategy to improve how performance is managed through the organisation, supporting the shift towards a data driven culture.
Performance Reporting & Analytics: Oversee the design, production, and distribution of comprehensive performance reports. Develop and implement dashboards and data visualisation tools to enhance report accessibility and understanding.
Team Leadership & Development: Lead and manage a team of performance analysts, providing coaching, development opportunities, and performance feedback. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the team. Oversee workload management to ensure deadlines are met and reporting outputs are of high quality.
Stakeholder Engagement: Present performance reports and key insights to senior leadership teams, providing clear recommendations for strategic and operational changes. Act as the key liaison between business units and the reporting function, ensuring reporting needs are aligned with business goals.
Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that KPIs and performance initiatives align with the company's overall strategy. Regularly assess whether performance metrics contribute to the achievement of broader business objectives.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in performance management and reporting to keep the organisation at the forefront of data-driven decision-making. Lead efforts to enhance the performance management process. Identify gaps, propose improvements, and implement streamlined procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy in performance reporting and analysis.

The Ideal Candidate
Proven leadership skills and the capability to create a high-performing team
Demonstrable leadership experience in performance management, data analysis, and strategic planning
Strong analytical mindset and the ability to derive insights from complex datasets
Exceptional communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to summarise complex data
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders
Strong ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work
Expert knowledge of PowerBI or other BI tools such as Quicksight
A thorough knowledge of SQL
Experience of delivering data related output and activity in an agile and dynamic manner
Experience of data model building and practical programming experience is desirable, preferably using Python
Experience in a large complex organisation or industry is desirable


National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
