We are currently seeking a Sustainable Construction Manager, based at our Solihull Head Office (Hybrid Working).
This role will be responsible for embedding sustainability throughout Tarmac's product range and solutions, ensuring our strategy is aligned with customer ambitions. Developing and communicating tools, systems and product sustainability data, information and certifications to support the delivery of Tarmac's sustainable construction strategy and maximize our commercial advantage.
Main ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Sustainable Construction Manager, you will:
Analyse & Report: Develops and manage the provision of accurate and timely sustainability data and reports on carbon footprints, Environmental Product Declaration & Life Cycle Analysis. Coordinate and implement traceable processes and systems for all required sustainability data reporting and certifications in relation to customer tenders and engagements. Produce information to support our product sustainability positioning and offers. Supports the development of Tarmac positions on key sustainable construction issues, including building & product codes & standards.
Collaborate: Build strategic relationships with key customers on sustainability matters and provides expert input into tenders and bids internally. Design, prepare and deliver training to support commercial teams to commercialise sustainability, increase awareness and competency levels
Customer Focus: Develops responses and presentations to customer enquiries and tenders in support of other customer/client engagements. Manages process, audits and compliance with key customer certifications including Achilles Building Confidence, ECOVADIS, DNVL, RISQ etc. Prepare and deliver training to support commercial teams to commercialise sustainability.
External Development: Represent Tarmac interests on relevant trade and external bodies to ensure that Tarmac is aware of influences and can meet the challenges of future sustainability requirements. Undertake peer benchmarking.
Manage People: Ensure direct report has ongoing coaching and development, with a formal IDP in place with monthly 1-2-1's and formal review of half year and year end. Ensure day to day management processes and procedures are in place and HR policies followed.
The Ideal CandidateTo be successful in the role of Sustainable Construction Manager, you will possess the following:
Knowledge of sustainable construction, technologies and products.
Preferably a further education qualification e.g. Degree or HND/HNC (ideally relatable to Engineering)
IEMA membership desirable not essential
Excellent leadership and personal management skills enabling the ability to work autonomously, manage multiple streams of work and the flexibility to respond to change.
Strong forward planning, strategic thinking and prioritisation skills.
Ability to present complex information simply and clearly varying to each audience.
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with a high level of analytical ability.
Strong technical competency, ability to understand and assess complex technical issues.
Be highly motivated and driven to succeed.
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to effectively communicate, work with, influence and challenge at all levels
Be innovative and proactive in identifying opportunities to improve current processes
Hold a fine attention to detail.
Be flexible and keen to take on and learn new tasks & skills.
Strong customer focus and management.
