Role Overview:
As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in our hospital’s food service operations. You will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene and nutrition are maintained. You will also assist in managing dietary requirements and ensuring that our service contributes positively to the recovery and well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Taking patient menu orders in the afternoon on the 13.30t o 20.00 Shift delivering plated meals to the wards in a bulk trolley and collecting them back in.
Helping with the clean down after the meals have been collected.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and dining areas, adhering to food safety regulations.
Assist in the washing and sanitising of kitchen equipment and utensils.
Help with stock management, including inventory control and rotation of supplies.
Provide excellent customer service by interacting warmly and respectfully with patients, visitors, and staff.
Assist with the collection of feedback regarding meal service to support continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about food service and committed to supporting the health and well-being of our patients. The ideal Catering Assistant will possess:
A genuine interest in catering and the nutrition of patients.
Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
A high level of attention to detail, particularly regarding hygiene and food safety.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
Previous experience in a catering environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
