We are looking for an able IT technician who is looking for a role in a busy team who are dedicated to helping staff and pupils achieve their best each day.
As the successful candidate, you would be the go-to person for all technical support within the school. You would play a key role in maintaining our IT infrastructure, troubleshooting issues and ensuring our pupils and staff have access to the resources they need to learn and teach effectively. This role is perfect for someone who is technically skilled, willing to learn, enjoys problem solving and is motivated to work in an educational environment.

The IT team has colleagues based in both the Junior and Senior School Campuses, and supports the IT infrastructure across the whole school as well as our Newfield Sports Campus and commercial team. Our core hours are between 8am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.

Main Responsibilities
Provide first-line technical support to staff and pupils, including troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
Set up, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and other technology equipment across campus.
Assist with managing user accounts, permissions, and access control for various systems and applications.
Support teachers with classroom technology, including interactive whiteboards, projectors, and other AV equipment.
Monitor and manage helpdesk tickets, ensuring timely resolution of issues and communication with users.
Assist the MIS Manager in the maintenance, updating, and troubleshooting of the school’s Management Information System (MIS), ensuring accurate and secure data management.
Provide support for data administration tasks, including report generation, data imports/exports, and resolving data-related issues to ensure seamless school operations.
Document and update technical processes and troubleshooting steps for common issues.
Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and coordinate with vendors for repairs or replacements.
Collaborate with the IT team on projects to improve and upgrade school technology systems.
The Ideal CandidateQualifications and Key Skills
Proven experience in IT support or a similar role; experience in an educational environment is a plus.
Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other standard software.
Familiarity with network troubleshooting, Wi-Fi management, and general network security practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
Patience, a positive attitude, and a commitment to giving excellent customer service.

About the school/organisationThe Edinburgh Academy is a fully co-educational school. The School consists of a Senior School, Junior School and a Nursery Department. The School is a member of HMC. The Edinburgh Academy moved to full co-education across the whole school in 2008. The Junior and Senior Schools are on separate sites, both of which have spacious grounds and sports facilities including extensive playing fields, an all-weather sports area, and a large Sports Hall and Centre.
