The Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) Team is a multi-disciplinary team providing expert independent assessment and support to families in care proceedings where drugs and or alcohol are a significant issue.
You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary FDAC Team and ensuring effective collaboration with partner agencies. FDAC has an established track record of forming effective working relationships with parents to address problem drug and alcohol use so that children in our communities are provided with safe and secure care. This is a unique safeguarding role that provides an opportunity to work with a broad range of professionals and organisations, including being part of the growing national network of FDACs.

What will you be doing?As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be skilled in delivering relationship-based practice and hold experience and knowledge of the varied needs of families and parents who require care and support from Children’s Social Care, notably who experience drug and/or alcohol misuse. Intervention is parent focused but child centred.
You will be part of a specialist team, supporting in making important and key recommendations for parents and children. You will work alongside colleagues within the team to support provision of timely and effective interventions. You will be required to work in multidisciplinary and multi-agency settings. Your role will be to contribute to every child being able to grow up safely and reach their full potential.
You will be based in Northampton but there would be a requirement to travel across the county where necessary to support our families effectively

About youYou are educated to GCSE level or equivalent
You are aware of current legislation relating to the job such as the Children Act, Adoption and Children Act, Every Child Matters, Public Law and Human Rights, Health, and Safety legislation
You are skilled in delivering relationship-based practice and hold experience and knowledge of the varied needs of children and young people who require care and support from Children’s Social Care.
You have experience of working directly with people and knowledge or involvement in working with families or adults who experience substance misuse and/ or domestic abuse would be advantageous.
You are comfortable working as part of the professional network around these families and feel confident in providing written reports as required and contributing to discussions both on an informal basis and within more formal settings.
