The Client
My client is part of global business who provide turnkey process engineering equipment for distillery and brewery projects. The company have been on an incredible journey over the past 3 years to become a �100million pound company and have almost met this target having taken on some truly exciting and complex projects in recent years.
Their Scottish operation based just outside Edinburgh fabricates equipment and vessels for distillery/brewery projects. The site is expanding rapidly in the past twelve months and has the capacity to double its headcount in the next few years.
Due entirely to workload, the company are now looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join the business. You will be primarily responsible for the technical mechanical side of a project but will be supervising a team when the Lead Engineer is on leave.
Though not directly responsible, you'll be a acting as a support to Senior management.
The Role
As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, though you won't be directly responsible for a team, you'll be acting as a support to Senior Management when they're on leave. .
The business delivers around 3 million of projects over the year and typically has around six projects at any one time. As the Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for:
* Upon receipt of enquiry, calculating the size of product required/diameter/height/copper requirement
* Put together a sketch for detailed drawings to be created by the Draughtsman and provide sign off
* Sizing of components required within the system
* Produce sheet layouts to ensure the company is ordering a relevant amount of materials for the build.
* Create BOM
* Reach out to suppliers for materials, get quotes and order
* Liaise with suppliers to make sure materials are on track for delivery at specified times
* You will often act as the point of contact on a project for external customers who required updates on order progress.
The Candidate
The successful candidate for this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity will have:
* Previous experience in mechanical design
* The ability to carry out mechanical calculations for sizing of equipment.
* Some experience mentoring or leading a team previously or an interest in this would be highly advantageous
* Be a team player
* To want to be part of a growing business and aspire to take on more responsibility in the future.
