What is the job role?

The Commissioning team are responsible for commissioning and monitoring services from local health and voluntary sector providers delivering Public Health services that may include health visitors and school nursing, substance misuse and sexual health for example.

An opportunity has arisen to lead the Public Health Commissioning team that focuses on commissioning services for children, young people and their families, in the role of Senior Commissioning Manager. 

You will have a lead role in providing advice and support to the Public Health consultants with commissioning activity, leading or supporting your colleagues in Adults with commissioning key service contracts; engaging with the market to build good relationships with providers.

You’ll be leading a small team, ensuring quality assurance, monitoring, and effective contract management. You'll use data and insights to drive commissioning activities and provide regular updates on service outcomes to senior managers and government funders.
Who are we looking for?We are looking for someone with experience in public sector commissioning and a solid understanding of Public Health services, policies, and legislation. You will be committed to engagement and consultation with children, and young people, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to lead a team to deliver key outcomes, manage complex projects, and negotiate effectively with service providers, ensuring cost and quality are well-managed.

Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders are therefore crucial, as well as the ability to provide constructive challenge when necessary.
