We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Community Support Practitioner in our Adult Mental Health Team. JAMI supports over 1,400 individuals annually, delivering nearly 50,000 service interactions and reaching thousands more through education, advocacy, and social enterprise initiatives like our Head Room café. We aim to expand our services significantly over the next five years while maintaining our commitment to offering professional, person-centred mental health support.
This role will be responsible for delivering high-quality mental health services, with a specific focus on supporting members of the Jewish community aged 25 and over. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic mental health interventions, while contributing to the ongoing development of innovative mental health services.
The role involves building relationships with local educational, vocational, and leisure facilities, providing outreach support, and working collaboratively with statutory and non-statutory organisations. Your work will help to ensure that mental health services are accessible, user-centred, and rooted in recovery principles.
This post is full time working Monday to Friday.
What you will be doing:
Providing specialist assessments and interventions to develop personalized support plans.
Managing a 1:1 caseload and deliver mid-term interventions aligned with service users' goals.
Offering psychoeducation to service users to help them understand and manage their mental health.
Liaising with external agencies and signpost service users to relevant support services.
Advocating for service users' rights and assist with grant applications for those facing financial hardship.
Maintaining up-to-date, accurate electronic records.
Building partnerships within the Jewish community to foster resilient, supportive environments for mental health recovery.
Participating in the organisation’s appraisal process and contribute to weekly MDT meetings.
Supervising volunteers and collaborate with other internal teams.
What you will need:
Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Nursing, or relevant field or a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within an adult mental health setting. (Essential)
Registration with HCPC or relevant governing body (Desirable)
Experience in adult mental health casework and working with statutory/voluntary organisations (Essential)
Experience with safeguarding procedures (Essential)
Knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act (Essential)
Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing legislation (Essential)
Understanding of Recovery principles and service user involvement (Essential)
Good IT, communication, and problem-solving skills (Essential)
