This position is within our hotel kitchen and you will report directly to our Head Chef who oversees The PIG and the Village Pub.Welcome to THE PIG – and The Village PubIn January 2024, we acquired the 17th century Barnsley House hotel that is tucked away in the quintessential Cotswold’s village of Barnsley, just four miles from Cirencester. THE PIG – and The Village Pub offers guests a classic example of an English country garden that evolves with the seasons including a kitchen garden that will supply the produce found on our 25-mile menu.The Role: As Senior Sous Chef you will need to be a real leader. Having strong people skills to support our Head Chef with the management of our kitchen team.Responsibilities include but not limited to: Confidence with the overall running of the kitchen.Maintain excellent supplier relationships.Supporting our Head Chef with the management of food costs and budgeting.Working closely with our Kitchen Gardeners utilising our kitchen garden produce.Planning kitchen team rotas.Competent knowledge of health and safety regulations, food handling and dietary requirements.Encourage development and support the kitchen team with their skills.Take an active role in leading, teaching and inspiring our kitchen apprentices.
