We are committed to empower people to rebuild their lives and regain independence. The service you will work in….The Hestia Age Activity Centre (AAC) provides a wide range of group activities for members aged 60 plus. The centre is open for four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday). We are based in Tooting Broadway, but also with responsibilities to support a 'sister service' - the Age Well Roehampton Service (AWRH). The Age Well Roehampton (AWRH) Project does not have an office of its own but uses multiple venues in Roehampton (at minimal or no cost) to facilitate and run activities, for older persons aged 55 and over. Both services aim to reduce isolation, prevent falls, and improve physical and mental health.  A day in this role looks like….As a Team Leader at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Needs service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:To carry out Health & Safety Inspections on a daily basis, reporting any repairs and managing all aspects of the safety of the AAC buildingTo ensure a
ll aspects of Food Safety are adhered to and planning of meals suitable to the needs to the AAC service users in collaboration with the chefTo manage referrals for both the Age Activity Centre and Roehampton Age Well projectsTo complete all assessments for the Age Activity Centre which includes Health Passports and PEEPS (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans)To work collaboratively with the Tutor & Activity Coordinator to arrange events, organise and coordinate peer support in a variety of ways including one-to-one advice, on-line support or face-to-face forumsTo promote both services in order people's sense of wellbeing, pride and satisfaction and create cross-cultural understanding across all ages to reach older people who may be at risk of losing their independence and offer support to either aid recovery or delay deterioration in their health & wellbeingSupport the Age Well Coordinator to actively engage and work in partnership with statutory, voluntary, and independent sector services, and residents aged 60 plus themselves and all ages, especially young people and their parent(s), via a whole family approach for those participating in intergenerational activities, to optimise local resources and local knowledge in developing service provisionSupport the Service Manager and Age Well Coordinator regarding the continued development of Age Well services by participating and contributing to provider forums, steering group meetings, service reviews and delivering training at training events, sharing best practice and expertise with other local Age Well ServicesWith the support of Hestia's Fundraising Team and the Service Manager, explore opportunities to leverage additional funding and resources from other sourcesTo ensure the safety of Age Activity Members by spending time on the reception desk to monitor all visitors to the CentreEnsure services are adopting the “making every contact count” (MECC) approach that builds the cap
acity and competence of frontline staff to identify people at risk of ill-health and referring onto available support in the communityDevelop and promote a co-ordinated approach to volunteer recruitment, making best use of volunteers across the programmeTo jointly work with the Tutor & Activity Coordinator & Age Well Coordinator to develop approaches to promote equity like dementia friendly communities and dementia friendly organisationsTo jointly work with the Tutor & Activity Coordinator & Age Well Coordinator to explore ways to embed digital solutions into Health and Wellbeing Services as appropriateTo ensure that staff (including pool workers), social work students and apprentices (where applicable) receive a thorough induction and training needs are addressed. Why Hestia?Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. To excel in this role, you should possess:Experience of managing high quality services for older people who need care and support relating to complex mental health needs.Highly developed financial skills and ability to manage service budgets for both AAC and Age well Roehampton.Team management experience including recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, training, performance management, discipline and grievance processes.Proven Track record and good research skills, knowledge of key factors affecting health and wellbeing in older population and the skills and experience to translate into a clear vision, service development and
delivery within specific community services in Wandsworth.Able to develop professional working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders; including community services, customers, professionals, from statutory and voluntary organisations and members of the public.Demonstrable experience of performance monitoring to ensure a consistently high quality service which adequately meets the needs of individual service users.Ability to communicate to a high standard, both verbally and in writing.Experience in actively monitoring the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the services and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures.Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.Our commitment to Equality, Diversity, and InclusionOur services users come from all walks of life and so do we.
