This service is primarily for offenders who have low to medium-level support needs leaving prison and preventing re-offending. The service can be used as either a step-up or step-down from other supported accommodation.Service users come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances. The majority have been released from prison on Licence, effectively serving the final part of their sentence in the community, though we also work with service users on various Probation Orders and those on Bail. Referrals are made through a central referral system operated by London Probation. The service works closely with multiple agencies (probation officers, housing and benefits services) and provides support around substance misuse and accessing other health services.Approved Premises play an important role in rehabilitation and community reintegration for these men who are ready to move forward and build a positive future.Due to the nature of the role, this post is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).A day in this role looks li
ke….As an Operations Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Criminal Justice Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:Modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes, helping to create and maintain a positive culture of respect in all work inside and outside of the service with both clients and colleaguesDeveloping and overseeing systems, procedures and policies, to ensure all residents in the AP are managed to meet Ministry of Justice/National Probation Service (MoJ/NPS) requirementsActively encouraging and supporting psychologically informed practice and an Enabling Environment focused approachAll aspects of line management including recruitment, induction, scheduling, development and performance management of staffFollowing protocols, encouraging compliance and taking enforcement action as necessaryEnsuring that colleagues, multi-agency partners and management are informed and updated as necessaryParticipating in the NPS risk assessment and referral process for London APs.Managing Health and Safety within a high-risk settingEstablishing and maintaining effective representation at internal and external forums, e.g. MAPPAParticipation in on-call management cover for Hestia APs, including out of hoursEnsuring staff contribute to delivery of the sentence plan in conjunction with colleagues in probation, the police and other external agenciesSupporting and encouraging staff to design and deliver a range of purposeful activities including preparation, facilitation and evaluationEnsuring that all related administration is done in good time; that detai
led, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously, that information is shared appropriately and that confidentiality is properly maintainedManaging financial aspects such as daily income/expenditure of Service Charge/ Petty CashDeveloping and recording effective outcomes, targets and performance measurementUsing initiative to identify and deal with additional tasks or issues as they arisePlease note that a requirement of this role includes providing out of hours on call cover to the Hestia Approved Premise. This is managed on a rota basis. On-call managers may need to travel to the services at short notice whilst on on-call duty and will therefore need to make decisions about what activities they can engage in outside work hours whilst on-call. To excel in this role, you should possess:Experience of working with offenders in a residential setting with particular emphasis on supervision, monitoring, encouraging compliance and enforcing sanctions where necessary.Detailed knowledge of the criminal justice system and National Probation Service and a clear understanding of the pathways to reduce re-offending and interventions that support these pathways.The capacity to maintain firm boundaries, using authority legitimately whilst working pro-socially and positively with people.The ability to receive, process and accurately record detailed i
