An exciting opportunity is available for a part-time Estates Specialist based at Taunton working 2.5 days per week Weds pm to Friday.

You will be responsible for the negotiation of complex consents, wayleaves, easements and agreements in respect of the location of distribution assets, to settle significant damage claims and to design, survey and prepare specifications for major overhead line schemes.  You will also provide support in the management of the tree cutting program. In addition you will be required to identify training needs of your own and other team members and provide training as necessary in estates and survey related matters.

*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

Main Responsibilities
Negotiate complex consents, wayleaves, easements and agreements in respect of the location of distribution assets.
Settle significant damage claims.
Assessing the potential impact of a specific work activity on customers and advising customers affected of the impact of activities
Resolving customer complaints directly wherever possible
Investigating and reporting on estate related matters
Exercise leadership
Introduce new wayleaves, easements, consents and agreements techniques and methods.
Train appropriate staff on the aspects of wayleaves, easements, consents and agreements.
Keep abreast of estates related development
Assess site risks, and take action to remove or avoid those risks
Report any accident, injury, damage to property or near miss.
Identify opportunities for improvement in performance and implement or recommend change
Issue work to contractors, and approve daily work sheets.
Carry out quality and compliance checks on contractors works.

The Ideal CandidateYou should have proficient negotiation and influencing skills and must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with customers, landowners and Local Authorities.

Ideally you would have an understanding of how overhead lines are constructed and underground cables are installed along with a general appreciation of the distribution network. You should be familiar with the operation of deeds and wayleaves, be aware of environmental legislation relating to statutory consents and have experience of geographic mapping and searching/updating computer records.

As you will need to be mobile throughout the area you must have a full and valid driving licence.
