To deliver efficient and effective caretaking support to Bridlington To ensure that cleanliness, heating, lighting and security are maintained in order to provide a safe environment for children, staff and other users of school premises whilst complying with the Contractual, Health and Safety and PPP-IML standards required.
Key Accountabilities
Promoting a safety culture and ensuring you are aware of and comply with all client and company health & safety procedures and standards at all times.
Following safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensuring that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.
Carrying out security procedures for the building, facilities and grounds, i.e. security inspections, lock/unlock doors, activate/deactivate alarm equipment, identify repairs, identify suspicious occurrences and liaising with the Police and authorities as required.
Completing PPM, carrying out routine checks and maintaining appropriate records including intruder alarm logbook, fire, water hygiene, repair orders, and heating system records book, carry out meter readings for the college.
Undertaking handyperson duties including; painting and decorating, first line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, basic plumbing, remedial works after break ins for which competence has been determined
Safeguarding approved sub-contractors and visitors by ensuring site inductions are carried out and access to buildings and keys issued in accordance with HSE, safe systems of work permits, security and contractual standards.
Providing on demand cleaning services whilst using the cleaning equipment in line with health and safety training as cleaning duties are physical activities which will include pushing cleaning trolleys and manual handling
Ensuring the ‘One Best Way’ cleaning procedures are followed and that the various daily, weekly and periodic cleaning duties required are carried out under the contract service level agreement and following the cleaning schedule as directed by your Line Manager
Communicating with the team to set clear work objectives, build team work, share and solve problems and promote a positive safety culture through daily huddles and weekly ROARS.
Providing training and support for the cleaning team in line with the training plan to ensure they have the required skills to do their jobs safely and well.
Carrying out people supervision tasks including timesheets, completing return to work interviews and regular formal and informal performance reviews.
Essential
Proven experience in DIY/practical skills
Good spoken English and basic literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage tasks to deal with the day to day demanding environment
