The role is based at Parklands, Birmingham but may involve home working, travel to other Compass sites and engaging with third party suppliers.

Primary responsibilities:

Provisioning cloud resources and implementation automation
Testing disaster recovery processes and procedures for backups
Implementation and management of security policies
Ensuring access controls and data integrity
Deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in AWS.
Implement AWS solutions using EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, EBS, IAM, SNS, SQS, SWF, Route 53, Application Load Balancer, Code Deploy, Jenkins, Elastic File System, Direct Connect, Cloud Watch, VPC, Security Groups, CloudFront, Cloud Trail, Auto Scaling Groups, etc.
Build cloud environments using automation and configuration management tools (e.g. Cloud Formation/Terraform)
Ensure all service components are administrated, maintained and documented in accordance with suppliers and department standards
Ensure adherence to all defined standards for Incident, Change and Problem Management, including the effective transition of new infrastructure services
Improve, maintain and support key performance reporting data
Generating financial recharge data for stakeholders
Monitoring and managing billing and cost optimization processes
Ensuring build standards are followed
Monitoring performance and availability of the applications and services
Optimization of the Cloud environment for ensuring maximum performance balanced against cost
Identification of potential issues and their resolution
When trained, provide out of hours stand by support for the infrastructure environment

Experience of administering an AWS cloud environment (1 year +) 
Strong technical documentation skills with ability to summarise technical issues or proposals in non-technical language when required.
Experience / understanding of IT security fundamentals
Good understanding of technical problem management, being able to apply logical component failure analysis to ensure efficient and timely resolution of issues.
Proactive seeker of emerging technologies, maintaining professional knowledge and skills and identifying new technical solutions and trends.
Good knowledge of the ITIL framework
Practitioner level experience of a range of technologies, including, but not limited to:
Microsoft SQL Server (all Versions including AWS RDS)
Integration Techniques (APIs)
Server Management (Windows and Linux)
Active Directory
Routing & wireless technologies – DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP
DevOps frameworks and processes
SysOps frameworks and processes
